I hope you read the sarcasm in my headline. I thought it was quite obvious that Tim Cook, the CEO for Apple, was a homosexual. But in case you were in doubt, he cleared up any confusion in a recent declaration:

While I have never denied my sexuality, I haven’t publicly acknowledged it either, until now. So let me be clear: I’m proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me.

“One of the greatest gifts God has given me”? Why did he think it was necessary to bring God into this? It seems to be one of the most familiar of homosexual habits: to claim God supports their lifestyle and then try to force the rest of us to support it as well. Homosexuals, and Tim Cook is no exception, liken the “struggle” for homosexual “marriage equality” to the civil rights battles of African-Americans:

When I arrive in my office each morning, I’m greeted by framed photos of Dr. [Martin Luther] King and Robert F. Kennedy. I don’t pretend that writing this puts me in their league. All it does is allow me to look at those pictures and know that I’m doing my part, however small, to help others. We pave the sunlit path toward justice together, brick by brick. This is my brick.

Let me be frank and clear. Being homosexual is a choice because it is defined by behavior. Defining it in any other way is nonsensical. As a behavior, it is not akin to the color of one’s skin or someone’s biological sexual assignment. And, unless God can be blamed for all of your behaviors, He can hardly be blamed for any of them. I will grant Tim Cook the benefit of a doubt and take his word for it that this declaration evidences a sincere desire to be helpful and transparent. But his declaration is without real risk and hardly a revelation.

Homosexual behavior is looked upon with favor now in our culture, so Tim Cook loses almost nothing in his admission. But what if homosexual behavior continued to be nationally and generally stigmatized? Would Tim Cook still be trying to do his “small part”? Probably not. He is, after all, a businessman before anything else.
