We’ve found the reason why Obama is able to plead ignorance of what’s going on in the world: he has missed over half of his intelligence briefings in his almost two terms as President:
A new Government Accountability Institute (GAI)report reveals that President Barack Obama has attended only 42.1% of his daily intelligence briefings (known officially as the Presidential Daily Brief, or PDB) in the 2,079 days of his presidency through September 29, 2014.
. . . This is not the first time questions have been raised about Obama’s lack of engagement and interest in receiving in-person daily intelligence briefings. On September 10, 2012, the GAI released a similar report showing that Obama had attended less than half (43.8%) of his daily intelligence briefings up to that point. When Washington Post columnist Marc Thiessen mentioned the GAI’s findings in his column, then-White House Press SecretaryJay Carney dubbed the findings “hilarious.” The very next day, U.S. Libyan Ambassador Chris Stevens and three American staff members were murdered in Benghazi. As Breitbart News reported at the time, the White House’s very own presidential calendar revealed Obama had not received his daily intel briefing in the five consecutive days leading up to the Benghazi attacks.
It should be difficult for Obama to lay the blame for his indecisive foreign policy on “bad intelligence” when he doesn’t even know half of what his intelligence team has been tasked to brief him on. If you miss more than half of your intelligence briefings, I would say you have little leg to stand on.
But have no fear, Obama fans will likely forget this piece of news, and everything else, before I’m done typing this sentence. So Obama should be safe to continue blundering his way through our escalating international crisis minefield. He can just continue to pretend that he doesn’t know what’s going on. Never mind. He’s not pretending.
Perhaps I’m being a little too hard on the guy. He has had far more important things to do. Like campaigning for other Democratic candidates, and golf. We can’t forget golf. How is he ever going to figure out how to deal with ISIS (and the rest of the Middle East), Putin, immigration, and all our other pressing international concerns if he doesn’t get his golf handicap to respectable levels. Seriously, guys.
