Is this just alarmism, or does it seem like Obama’s Executive Amnesty is designed for nothing more than getting more votes for the Democrat Party? Apparently, a loophole in the amnesty allows illegal aliens to vote, if they care to. That’s because they will have access to driver’s licenses and social security cards:
While stressing that it remains illegal for noncitizens to vote, secretaries of state from Ohio and Kansas said they won’t have the tools to sniff out illegal immigrants who register anyway, ignoring stiff penalties to fill out the registration forms that are easily available at shopping malls, motor vehicle bureaus and in curbside registration drives.
Anyone registering to vote attests that he or she is a citizen, but Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted said mass registration drives often aren’t able to give due attention to that part, and so illegal immigrants will still get through.
Proponents of the amnesty say that illegal aliens won’t want to risk losing their provisional status by breaking the law to vote. But that seems to overlook the basic fact that the people running registration drives might push people to register anyway (with false information at the very least), and that illegal aliens registered in this way will likely slip past detection on election day.
With a few million people included in the executive amnesty, it seems like a pretty natural thing to believe that at least a number of illegals will be voting in future elections. And it is also natural to believe that these illegals will vote for the party they think has done so much for them—the Democrats.
I don’t think this is an overblown concern. Democrats think Republican “fear-mongering” on this issue is designed to suppress all Democrat voters (legal and illegal). They continually criticize Voter ID laws as intrinsically racist or elitist. But Obama’s executive amnesty might create a scenario where Voter ID laws become absolutely necessary to avoid fraud.
