What does ObamaCare Have to Do With Circumcision?

I was recently discussing the pros and cons of circumcision with a friend, and later, he sent me an article from no less reputable a source than Yahoo! Health news which reported that the leading pediatric organization in America has reversed its 13-year-old policy concerning the health benefits of circumcision. Up until recently, the American Academy of Pediatrics had stated that the risks involved in circumcision weren’t really worth the possible benefits. Now, the AAP says that the risks are worth the benefits.

The battle over this question has been going on for some time, but what I find so interesting about this recent reversal is that it comes right on the heels of Obamacare passing. You see, the AAP’s endorsement is more than just an unbiased statement of medical research—it has repercussions on insurance. As the story reports:

The nation’s most influential pediatricians group says the health benefits of circumcision in newborn boys outweigh any risks and insurance companies should pay for it.

The most important line there is “and insurance companies should pay for it.” In another portion of the article, it mentions that eighteen states have stopped funding circumcisions through Medicaid because it was not considered medically necessary. Most people have not considered this very important aspect of the recent healthcare regulations: the potential it has to impact medical research results and influence the stated opinions of professional medical associations. If a medical association says something is medically necessary, and this causes insurance companies to be forced to cover it, then, under ObamaCare, this could fluctuate the taxpayer burden by billions or more. One day, circumcisions are not covered; the next they are. One day, chiropractor visits are covered; the next, they’re not.

If insurance stays largely unregulated, different insurance companies would be free to develop their own policies, and you would be free to purchase the insurance that works best for your needs. But, if the civil government is paying for it, it can’t and won’t be like this. Insurance will become uniform, and the civil government will have to use research from the most “reputable” professional associations to determine what will and will not be covered. And, of course, these associations will not in any sense be tempted to sway their opinions to benefit their members or their backers in different health industries. Effective cancer treatments that cost very little will of course be given as much weight in the research as costly cancer treatments that extend over long periods of time after which they precipitate the need for other costly medical procedures. Right. Because insurance companies, bureaucratic associations, and government never work to further their own selfish ends at our expense.

  1. There is also the temptation for the government to make people use various “services” and to regulate them. Imagine them saying that women must use contraception or dictates on how boys are circumcized or that they must be. Imagine regulating the religious cermonies of Jews and Muslims in that regard and contraception techniques among anyone with views on the matter.
Frankly, I think that the interference is with our ability to choose and think for ourselves regardless of community or religious associations but these do tend to focus on the issue.
Already the law seems to be ready to pay for tests and prevention more than actual medical problems when they are discovered. What else can you make of paying for results? The healthy are worth paying for but the unlucky victims of cancer or heart problems deserve less treatment? This flies in the face of facts about causes and financial good sense as well as the dignity of the individual – let’s blame the victim!
This law must be rooted out and repealed completely. Don’t think that trimming it will do the job. It is the premise it is based on that is wrong and must be uprooted. People are not all alike, they do not have the same needs or desires, it is wrong to lump us all together and share the cost. Insurance and other voluntary means allow us to share the risk without forcing anyone if the government will get out of the way. They cannot correct their previous interference by taking over completely.

    • My feelings exactly. I’ve lived around Jews my whole life save for many years in the Far East, and I’ve known families that were very careful about everything health related–but they had to have a mo’el do their sons’ bris. I can foresee the nanny state getting around to interfering with people like that.

  2. The Obamanation called Obamacare has to do with everything! It is a license for the government to invade EVERY aspect of every life in the name of curbing cost. Dfecide that circumcision is an unnecessary cost – ban it. Decide that eating certain classes of food – ban them. Decide that eating of pork offends the Muslims among us-ban it! Decide that two cups of coffee are unhealthy and cause nervous tension- tax the second cup or just ban it! Decide that homosexual sex is unhealthy and results in an aids epidemic- BAN IT! YEAH!

    • of their daughters! They cut off everything, then stitch them shut except for a very small opening. In 1993, in Dallas, the number one most common pediatric emergency patient was 12 year old Muslim girls with either botched or infected circumcisions.

      • That’s true, they did steal the circumcision from the Jewish people. Muslims also mutilate female genitals to cut off their clitorises to deny them any sexual pleasure. This abomination is NOT circumcision but an abomination. This disgusting practice is prevalent in Egypt and north Africa and most Islamic African countries. Too bad it doesn’t do anything to curb their exploding birth rate. Muslims also circumcise up to the age of 13 using unclean instruments. Their method of circumcision differs drastically from the Jewish practice which occurs at eight days.

        • Jewish and Muslim circumcisions are different in a very important respect. A Jewish boy is circumcised eight days after birth, and, believe me, they get over it. Muslim boys are usually circumcised at a much greater age, when it will be traumatic.

    • Yeah, and they copied (stole) that like just about every other aspect of their “religion” from Judaism to make their abomination look legitimate.

  3. No one has brought it up, but I can see the day when Obama’s gang determines that I would have been less likely to get cancer had I been circumcized. Then refusing to pay for my treatment. Or I chose not to eat asparagas so I am responsible for my broken leg. Anytime you let big brother dictate anything,,,

  4. First, if that picture were of an adult with an expression like that, you would know they are experiencing unbearable pain. Monstrous barbaric practice that at the very least does not give any anesthetic on the flimsy grounds they won’t remember it?
Second, I read the article and the so called benefits of circumcision were mostly tied to promiscuous behaviour as an adult . The various diseases mentioned can be prevented by better choices.
Third, the original article pushing for circumcision did not factor in the risks at all. How many infections, how many amputations, how many deaths of baby boys who were perfectly healthy before this useless and unneeded surgical procedure was done to them?
Last, I know what I am talking about, I nearly lost my son who almost bled to death when his was done. Those little screams still haunt me after all these years, and rushing into the room which looked like a murder scene, blood everywhere. All because doctors and nurses said it was the best thing to do. Best for whom? The answer to that is plain. People making money from mutilating babies.

  5. It took President Barak Hussan Obama, with a Muslim name to get the
American Academy of Pediatrics after almost 20 years to change from being
against to now supporting circumcisions of newborn baby boys. This same
reasoning can be said for circumcision of the female clitoris, like they do in
the Muslim Countries. All European, Chinese, Indian & Latin American
Pediatrics are still against the butchery that is circumcision of any type.

  6. Hey! Maybe ther’ll be some new job opportunities. I’ve heard that a med tech in the circumcision ward can earn four skins a week with a chance to get ahead.

    • The Rabbi asked the priest what he did with foreskins, he replied they dispose of the. The Rabbi wanted to buy them and sew them into little purses. The priest asked why. The Rabbi replied you can make money… sew little purses, stroke them and you have a Handbag. Just say’in.

  7. As usual money comes into the argument. I would like to point out one other thing and that is That Dirty Diaper Head Obama has always supported Muslim interests in everything. As such they feel that their greatest enemy is the Jewish faith. And circumcision is one of the big points that separate Jews from Gentiles. I think Obama just trying to take a backhanded slap at Israel.

    • I do believe someone is using my identity. This is definitely not my post! I personally believe all Muslims should be circumcised. The circumcision should take place about 2 inches below the chin and remove all that access waste space from the body.

  8. I think that the real problem with America is that there are way too many people who think that government control of everything is a good thing. The image of Big Brother micromanaging every aspect of their lives appeals to them. The corrupt bureaucrats and corrupt politicians gain wealth, power and control (dictatorship) over the masses by convincing them that they are dumb and that the government is smart. The bureaucrats and politicians rake in billion$ in tax money and dole out, relatively speaking, nickels, dimes and pennies to the gullible welfare/slave recipients. Economist, Milton Freidman, said that if the poor received all the money supposedly given to them, they would be rich. A lot of tax money is not only wasted, but STOLEN. Wise up, America! Stop the racketeering rip-off scams of communist/socialist policies!

  9. There was more to circumcision as given to the Jewish community as a covenant sign. I commend you to a book (available from Amazon), “None of These Diseases,” by an M.D., published originally at least 35 years ago, affirming the health benefit of male circumcision. Of course, G-d already knew that centuries earlier.

  10. Thats easy Muslims arn’t circumsized another dirty thing. So they have now made it cosmetic and a lot of insurances won’t cover it. (you have to pay extra) There is nothing
as creepy and as dirty as an uncircumsized male. Another way that Obama has put himself in the business of families and what they want. (cleanliness) They are literally telling us what we can and cannot have. Well with their death panels etc, if Obama care fully takes over anyone over the age of 55 that contracts anything will probably not get treated. Mr Hitler is alive and well along with his Gestapo. I am sick of it and he needs to go, he should actuallybe kicked out of the White house and this country for all the ILLEGAL things he has done/ He is in office ILLEGALLY , he has commited fraud and produced forged documents, and so much more. Or he and Holder should be sharing a cell for life for their part in getting the Border patrol agent murdered.

    • Wow, what an ignorant, hateful comment.

First of all, Muslims are not inherently bad, dirty, or any other insult you can throw at them. There are good Muslims and bad Muslims, just like any other religion.

Secondly, Muslims ARE a circumcising people. It’s evidently not in the Koran, but many Muslims believe it to be a necessary part of their religion.

Third, there is nothing dirty or creepy about “uncircumcised males”. The foreskin actually protects the penis from dirt by acting as a cover over the head when the penis is flaccid. It also has specialized cells that neutralize and clear microbes.

I can’t address the rest of your comment with any authority, but some of it I do believe to be true (is: not covering care for older Americans). Unfortunately, anything you said that may have merit has been occluded by your nasty, uninformed ranting.

  11. Another step closer to Obamas dream, get rid of christians and make everyone Muslum. I know obama is not Musulm, hes a Christian, so he says. Why do things look like he is working for forigners. His policies are confuesing. Im just sayn

  12. Atheists have tried to ban male circumcision because they know that certain religious groups cannot add new members without it.

  13. As a VERY independant thinker and woman (even when I was young according to my dad RIP), I Resent obama and his minions increasingly trying to control my life and make decisions for me. Hell, I’ll buy my own contraceptives If I want them or won’t if I don’t want them. I don’t need somebody telling me what I can eat or what I can do with property I own. Or anything else bo is trying to control. BO is all about CONTROL!!! And arrogance that HE knows what’s best for me and HE knows what’s fair and should be able to decree laws!

  14. Islam advocates circumcision, so it will be included as part of the Shari Law in the new culture the Obama Regime is implementing in the United States.

  15. I’m sure that the Kenyan chimp-in-chief remains “intact”. How very nasty if all those Chicago bath house escapades with “dead fish” Emmanuel are true. Yuck!

I don’t believe circumcision is a ritual in Islam. Except, of course, only with poor little, defenseless and innocent Muslim and Anamist baby girls. What painful idiocy is for these unfortunate little ones! What Stone Age thinking stll guides these ignorant people. What sadists they are.

Obamacare, as of last night, is dead in the water along with all the Obandit’s worthless Executive Orders.
REAL hope and change is coming to us after four dry years.

And should he decided to start using his 700 million round of ammo, he might find out that we will take it away from him before he runs to Brazil for protection!

What an evil person Obama is, thinking he would have people shot who don’t like him or disagree with him. And that goes for the First Hippo and her litter as well, Ms Palousy, Mr. Rude and the Congressional Black Caucus except for LTC Alan West, IF he happens to be a member….which I seriously doubt. He’s much too smart for that.

  16. First, when talking about male circumcision, i highly recommend: http://research.cirp.org/news1.html John Taylor, heart specialist and penis researcher says in his 2009 October Newsletter:
SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) and circumcision: What is the link?

Second, mandated health coverage means loss of freedom. The players here pro forced genital cutting of boys, PEPFAR and lalala. Forced, yea another loss of freedom. The American Academy of Pediatrics, AAP, is nothing more than a TRADE ORGANIZATION that going after the money before health that be damned. In polls, circumcision runs 80% against 20% for yet politicians are too scared to make the call and follow the will of the people. That circumcision remove 65%-85% of the males sexual receptors, meaning intact males feel 75% more, and straightjackets what should be a mobile mechanical and sexual system is nothing to sneeze at. That doctors make more money by selling foreskins for their stem cells, say to feed embryonic research, stem cells that would normally change during puberty to be the male’s sexual receptors, is nothing less than harvesting body parts. Google ‘foreskin bio industry’.

I’ve been asking this question: Would any of my Obamacare money go towards forced male circumcision? No answer from my reps. Pelosi and Feinstein. I did though get an answer from a Obamacare ticket collector at the door for those who want info, who said if it’s legal then yes. i’m not sure really what to make of that.

BTW UCSF has ongoing seemingly innumerable studies against having a normal body part the foreskin, and yet not ONE study looking at a beneficial foreskin. The USA is not #1 but #52 of all world nations for infant mortality according to the CIA. Its been getting worse not better and Obamacare will make it more so, again PEPFAR supports circumcising the world. The world is coming to terms with circumcision and shining a light against our political darkness:

All six Nordic nations’ sexology associations signed this document “foreskin is a functional & highly sensitive, erogenous structure, capable of providing pleasure” http://nacs.eu/data/press_release001.pdf

We are becoming barbarians, medically and politically.Mandated health coverage means loss of freedom. The players here pro forced genital cutting of boys, PEPFAR and lalala. 17. The AAP statement was very carefully crafted to not recommend circumcision but then claims the benefits outweigh the risks, When the AAP was pressed into what risks they compared it was revealed that they didn’t even compare the risks to the benefits when writing their position.

They also quoted a study which shows the foreskin is the most sensitive parts of the penis but then ignored that this body part had a purpose in life.

I think you have really hit the nail on the head when you mention that the AAP want insurance to pay for it. They say this because they want to protect their members income. In states that do not pay for circumcisions the rates of genital cutting has been dropping considerably each year.

USA is the only country in the developed world where unethical Doctors are still routinely removing a healthy body part off a non consenting person in hospitals.

Most countries have banned it in hospitals and teach proper care as most guys never need circumcision and modern medicine has alternatives that are more cost effective than circumcision and do not remove the most sensitive part of the male body.
