One Thing Hillary Clinton Got Very Right

In a recent town hall meeting, Hillary Clinton said something, uncharacteristically, accurate and insightful. She didn’t know it was true when she said it, mind you. She was talking about gun control, and unbeknownst to her, she said something quite right:

We cannot let a minority of people—and that’s what it is, it is a minority of people—hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people.

Right on. Let’s apply that to a few other situations. How about gay marriage/rights/whatever. LGBT people represent under four percent of the population in the United States. Outside of cities, that number drops significantly. Many states have made an attempt to ban gay marriage (with statewide support). Even California, the land of fruits and nuts, passed Proposition 8. Which was shut down by the Supreme Court. And homosexuals, clearly a minority in the United States, go around terrorizing anyone that disagrees with them—forcing people to bake them wedding cakes and take their wedding photos, terrorizing restaurants run by “homophobes,” etc. Well, Hillary Clinton has some very true words to say about that:

We cannot let a minority of people—and that’s what it is, it is a minority of people—hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people.

Right on, Hillary Clinton. Right on.

What about universal healthcare and the Affordable Care Act? The majority of Americans were against it. The vast majority of Congress didn’t even know what was in it. It has “benefited” a very small minority of Americans (and only in the short-term). But this small minority got the ear of the corrupt officials in Washington and forced this unpopular bill onto the majority of Americans. A clear case of the minority terrorizing the majority. What does Hillary Clinton have to say about that?

We cannot let a minority of people—and that’s what it is, it is a minority of people—hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people.

Right on, Hillary Clinton. Right on.

And the irony of her comments is that it actually applies to gun control as well, in the opposite sense that she intended. According to one study, 34% of American households have at least one gun, and there is a gun in America for every private citizen. I’m sure every one of these homes contain voters who would uphold the Second Amendment. I make this wild assumption based on the fact that these voters do in fact own guns. And aside from this third of the population, many others who do not own guns still support gun ownership for others.  A recent Gallup poll reveals that support for gun control measures is at an all-time low in the US, with a record-low 26% wanting a ban on handguns. Yet a small minority of bleeding hearts and leftists want to terrorize the majority of Americans and take away their Constitutional rights. And what does Hillary Clinton have to say about this?

We cannot let a minority of people—and that’s what it is, it is a minority of people—hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people.

Right on, Hillary Clinton. Right on. I couldn’t agree with you more.

  1. She has compartmentalized those thoughts. They do not co-mingle in her mind. And if you were to point that out in a way to FORCED her to see the truth, she would start to stammer and stutter like Nancy Pelosi.
Strangely, they both are beginning to look about HALF dead. I suspect the dead half is the top half.

    • Perhaps they have wised up and switched from cocaine to cannabis. That would account for the more relaxed as opposed to the high-strung appearance. .
Should either begin to make an accurate statement, accidentally, more often, it would also suggest a switch from coke to cannabis. However, their basic dishonesty would not change.

  2. Her meaning of ” minority of people” was in referance to gun owners. What follows is some research on the numbers. According to the Geneva-based Small Arms Survey – the leading source of international public information about firearms – the U.S. has the best-armed civilian population in the world, with an estimated 270 million total guns. That’s an average of 89 firearms for every 100 residents

According to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which handles that registration, there were more than 3.1 million National Firearms Act-registered weapons in the U.S. as of March 2012.

So Mrs. Clinton as usual you have no facts for your claim.

      • Must be since she just stated that none of the founding fathers were born in America and were immigrants. What a moron they were born here in the America’s none immigrated.

        • I hate to admit it, but I went to the same high school system as Hitlery. Unlike her, (evidently) I was required to take a US History class and pass a US govt/Constitution test before I was allowed to get my diploma. I also had to pass an Illinois govt/Constitution exam. She was a few years behind me. Maybe the requirements changed. She clearly is pretty ignorant on topics from US History, and the Constitution.

          • Nope she is being a good little socialist and rewriting history. They constantly lie about everything like her lie this week about automatic weapons being used in the school shootings. If her mouth is open she is LYING!!

    • The gun makers definitely think you’re not as smart either. You’re being used by them in order to sell more guns to anyone – including criminals. To them, every guy with a gun isn’t enough. They’re hoping that you would buy a thousand guns. Bigger profits and be damned the safety of Americans.

      • Are you aware of any statistics compiled which includes those cities which (almost) MANDATE gun ownership of it’s residents? I haven’t either, but I have a pretty good idea that the violent crime rate is near zero.
As for selling guns to criminals, most gun sales like that are street sales and should be investigated/prosecuted to the fullest extent of law. And if you commit a crime with a firearm? You need to go to jail for a very, very, VERY long time.

      • What – The gun makers definitely think I am not as smart….? You are looney! I have absolutely no dealings with any gun makers. I don’t need to, as I already have all I need to protect my family from the thugs.

      • Moron alert !!! the guns used in 99% of crimes are stolen not bought from a Gun store. The salesman of the year 5 years running for the gun manufactures has been Obama. There is nothing wrong with gun makers wanting to sell as much as they can it’s called CAPITALISM. Take your socialist but and move to a 3rd world country and see if you like their way of life!!

      • So the gun laws we already have are ignored by criminals who by definition do not follow the law, and your solution is more gun laws that the criminals will ignore? Liberlism 101. Punish the law abiding citizen so it looks like you are doing something. When it does not work, repeat the process. Gun makers aren’t using me at all. I have no desire to buy a thousand guns. Could never afford the ammo to shoot that many guns. Your arguments are simply lunacy and totally ridiculous.

        That’s MINUS One.
Public Alert: This is the ~only~ way you will see down votes now since the LIBS have managed to corrupt this system to distort reality for their own purposes.

  3. The woman is a “progressive” idiot – she says what she thinks the listener at the time wants to hear – and she obfuscates every issue, if possible. She increasingly reminds me of Piglosi – “gotta pass this bill to see what’s in it!” That might go down as one of the top 10 stupid statements of the decade!!!!

  4. It was not the small minority without insurance pushing for government health care, but another more sinister one. Political insiders (Democrats) wanted a vast new bag of favors to hand out for political payoffs. Corruption on a vast scale.

  5. The gun nuts are not controlling the debate – the gun makers are. Gun makers are in it foe the money, not self-defense. What ever sells guns is OK with them. The gun lobby should be banned on Capitol Hill. Gun makers should be banned from giving campaign donations to politicians and judges. When that happens, we’ll see commonsense gun reform across the nation.

    • What about tobacco and alcohol lobbyists? Both those industries kill far more people than gun manufacturers. But then again, I’m not averse to banning just about ALL lobbying anyway. 🙂

      • Tobacco should be added to the list. The tobacco lobby is very powerful. They don’t have to tell us what’s in cigarettes. We deserve to know.

The gun makers could work with Congress on gun safety but they might lose a few dollars in profits. Imagine passing a few laws in less than 2 months. It would save everyone time and frustration.

        • Every gun made now is safe it’s the moron that holds it that is unsafe. We already have more gun laws on the books that are ignored and judges letting guilty gang bangers go free so that would be a good start to enforce the laws not add more stupid laws that will not stop one crazy from killing people. Better start taking away knives, cars and baseball bats as they kill more than guns.

        • Don’t smoke and you won’t have to worry about it. If a seller won’t give you the information you want. Don’t buy their product. Your last paragraph is just BS.

    • The only people I know that could be labelled as “gun nuts” are people like you. The gun owners I know are serious, responsible, upstanding and productive citizens. There is no such thing as “commonsense” gun reform. It is nothing more than liberal speak for making gun ownership nearly impossible. Amazing how you libs are supposedly all about freedom and equality, except when it comes to those who disagree with you and thye you have no trouble denying them their constitutional rights. It’s all for the children, right lightsocket?

    • The use of the word, “commonsense” by woonsocket. L. O. L.

Does woonsocket refer to the vagina or to the anus, possibly ?

  6. H. Clinton makes about as much sense as the statement she made. “At this point what difference does it make?” But she made so many accomplishments as Secretary of State so she should be shoe-in for President? Not!!! Remember voting for President is not a popularity issue. America voted popular that last two times and how is the change working our for you?

  8. mink off got this wrong! the real story is that amnesty is for those illegals who have been here a couple years and the newly arrived illegals are to replace those who are legalized in order to continue the cycle. has anyone learned anything about political spin from the last 100 years of leftist corruption?

  9. “.. the practical reason why, when the power is once in the hands of the people, a majority are permitted, and for a long period continue, to rule, is not because they are most likely to be in the right, nor because this seems fairest to the minority, but because they are physically the strongest. But a government in which the majority rule in all cases cannot be based on justice.”
