Obamacare Spurring More ER Visits

If you had to pay for your own hospital care, what would be important to you? Lowering the cost of healthcare, preventative measures, cutting out the middle men, researching effective cheap cures, and cutting down on any unnecessary expensive hospital visits (like the ER, for instance). Well, guess which kind of hospital visit has become far more frequent under Obamacare? You guessed it, ER visits.

And why not? The Obamacare patients aren’t paying for it, so why should they make any attempt to cut down on costs? And the insurance companies don’t want to cut down costs. And the hospitals don’t want to cut down costs. And the people who pay for it aren’t allowed to cut down costs. Do you understand that? These costs are just going to keep going up. And up. And up. Until we’re all broke.

And it’s already happening. Obamacare fanboys are trying really hard to come up with other reasons for the increased ER visits:

Bill Wagner, executive director of Family Health Centers, a Louisville-based network of clinics serving the poor, echoed many others about why people are flocking to ERs: “More than anything, this highlights the shortage of primary-care physicians.”

No. It doesn’t. More than anything, it highlights human nature. Everyone with any sense said this would happen. It’s beyond stupid to try to find some other explanation for it. Most people dependent on the civil government have no real capacity for long-term thinking. Obviously. They can’t even take care of themselves. So why in the universe do you think they would be concerned about maintaining their health with good diet, exercise, or semi-regular checkups with their primary care physician? They wouldn’t. They aren’t.

And what about all those other things I mentioned at the beginning of the article? Healthcare costs are skyrocketing, preventative measures will fall out of favor, middle men will proliferate, and medicinal research will fall off. Thanks, Obamacare!

  1. Mr. Minkoff, You’re off your mark. By refusing the expansion of Medicaid, Republicans will cause the deaths of thousands of Americans. Ask hospitals in those states how they’re managing.

    • They did not have it before so why aren’t they dead already? When is woons going to tell us how long he has been on the dole?

      • Go to Google and enter “medicaid expansion keeps hospitals open”
        Hospitals were already struggling before the ACA. Both the ACA and Medicaid expansion were designed to keep struggling hospitals open. Republican governors who refused the money for Medicaid will have to shut down hospitals.

        Gov. Deal in Georgia refused Medicaid money and he’s closing hospitals in the poorest areas of the state. Now poor people will have a harder time getting medical help. People die if they can’t get to a hospital in time and/or they have no transportation.

        It also doesn’t help if there’s aren’t enough taxes to keep hospitals open. Republicans would rather lower taxes than keep hospitals open.

        • I don’t have to go to read any more lib propaganda. Have already seen a local College Clinic for seniors and the poor closed as well as the City Hospital Group lay off 200 due to reduced funding under the scam. If more people die it will be BECAUSE OF the $3+ Trillion anti seniors, anti middle class Obamcaid takeover scam. If want to pay more taxes there is a form you can fill out to do so. Guess Democrats are all talk, no wallets.

  2. For the entire history of this country, the majority of Americans have NEVER been able to afford a doctor or a hospital visit. When you start insuring those who never had a doctor ask yourself the following questions;
    The newly insured are;
    1. Visiting emergency rooms because they have no family doctor?
    2. The working poor never had and still don’t have health insurance. Republican governors are still denying them coverage. Those Americans have a better chance of dying in emergency rooms. States without expanded Medicaid will go into MORE DEBT.
    3. It’s expensive to never have had prevention or treatment. That’s why we can expect to see the newly-insured going to emergency with complicated health issues.
    4. Early detection of diseases such as diabetes saves lives and further complications down the line. Late detection is expensive and you need hospital care.

    • I spent years unemployed and uninsured. During that time, I visited the hospital, and even had surgery to remove my gall bladder. Didn’t pay a dime of it, since I had no money. My father, for some time, was also uninsured at one point, and developed cancer (to which he finally succumbed), and ran up quite the bill – for which he paid nothing. The hospital gave us some of the most excellent care we’ve received, simply because we needed it.

      The lie being spouted as the foundation of liberals who foolishly support this nonsense called “Obamacare” is this: Insurance equals healthcare. While claiming that many people are uninsured might be true, stating that they don’t have (or can’t get) healthcare is, simply, a lie. It was, and it is.

      But Goebbels knew in his day, as liberals do now, that the truth just gets in the way of a good lie.

  3. This is no surprise at all and was predicted. ER visits went up in both Mass. and Hawaii after their mandatory healthcare programs went up. Of course the gullible Obamabots weren’t supposed to know that.

  4. Most poor people do not have regular doctors. Obamacare doesn’t guarantee that your local doctor will accept your insurance however, it does guarantee that Emergency Rooms will be covered. What did you expect.
