Is Atheism the Fastest Growing Religion in America?

An article in the Telegraph unpacks a Washington Post Religious Map of the United States. And it comes to this conclusion: atheism is the fastest growing “religion” in the United States. I really don’t doubt it.

According to the article, data from the US Religious Census of 2010 indicates that Catholicism and Protestantism, though still standing in their traditional strongholds, are withering from within as church attendance reaches record lows. Added to this, Muslims are gaining in numbers, outstripping Jews in Florida.

What does all of this mean? That the United States is secularizing. And that the pole of Christianity will be shifting East. Americans have taken liberty, the rule of law, and economic prosperity for granted. They think they can keep these things without holding to the principles that produced them. Not so.

Citizens of former dictatorships are not so naïve.  And many of them are flocking to Christianity because they reoognize that ideas have consequences. They recognize that atheism is the most diabolical national religion in all of history, whereas Christianity, even in its most imperfect application, has produced more peace and prosperity in a society than atheism could ever boast.

But Americans are deaf and blind to these truths. The bottom line is that American hegemony is coming to a close. Our economic capacities are being eaten away, our international influence is eroding, and our religious and political convictions are rotten. But the good news is that the decline of American imperialism and exceptionalism provides a real opportunity for authentic Christians to show the true grit of their religion.

The church is not merely a social group, Theism is not a philosophical crutch, and Christianity is not just an ichthus on your car and visits to church on Easter and Christmas. It will cost more to be a Christian in the coming year. Many hypocrites, mercenaries, and opportunists will abandon ship. Good riddance.

  1. If atheism was a religion it would have fragmented into various different sects that would be killing each other by now. The notion Christianity has produced more peace and prosperity in a society than atheism could ever boast is pure BS! Angola in 94% Christian & Rwanda Kenya, Uganda, Congo, Southern Sudan, Southern Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Namibia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama & the Philippines are ALL Christian nations that have neither peace or prosperity! A pattern of financial difficulty & violence is manifest in EVERY country where the Church takes a major role in the government. The Christian resolve to find the world evil and ugly, has made the world evil and ugly & Science is the record of dead religion. The truth is the toxic fairytale of religion is dying as science advances. The countries flocking to Christianity are the poorest most uneducated regions in Asia & Africa.

    • The Constitution of Rwanda provides for freedom of religion, and the Government generally respected this right in practice.

http://blogs.cbn.com/globallane/archive/2011/02/09/south-sudan-to-be-a-christian-nation.aspx (shows how it is to be a secular nation with freedom of religious beliefs)

Zambia was declared a Christian nation yes. But tell me this. Is there another country on this planet that has had the same history as the US? No, there isn’t. There is no other country that has the same history of all different religions, heritages, cultures, and traditions, flock together to one country. And from that country the drive for freedom, independence, and invention. You can’t try to compare other countries that have had or do have it rough, who have found religion in the past century, and claim “See? SEE!?? Christianity sucks!” I know you want to just wave your atheism wand and make it all disappear. But obviously it doesn’t go away instantly. Just as religion doesn’t change everything for the better instantly, when developing a country.

      • All through history the ancient gods have found themselves
in the trash can of history, eventually discarded. Atheists today are
continuing that tradition. We are adding Jehovah, or Yahweh, to the list. Christianity finds it hard to win new converts without reducing them emotionally to such wretchedness of self-depreciation that they surrender the last remnants of reason and human worth which is why is losing ground in the west. The advance of Western civilization has been the story of gradual victory over oppressive religion.
The rise of humanism slowly shifted society’s focus away from obedience to bishops and kings, onto individual rights and improved living conditions. I’m not comparing America to other countries. The author made the claim that “Christianity has produced more peace and prosperity in a society than atheism could ever boast” which is simply not true.

        • What has Christianity done for the world? Christianity led to the end of murder of slaves in the coliseums of the Roman world, the beginning of healthcare for the masses and education for the common man. It brought an end to the slave trade and slavery itself. It brought workers rights through Lord Shaftesbury, and child protection agencies, like the RSPCC by William Wilberforce and other Christian leaders. Christianity also birthed the Civil Rights Movement with the leader being the preacher Martin Luther King Jr. and the end of Apartheid in South Africa, thanks to the leadership of Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela.

Christianity in addition has had a major impact upon all European languages, adding words, spelling, grammar and shaped what we say – the phrases, our idioms, and the Christian names of people, places and organisations. Great authors like C.S. Lewis and freedom fighters like John Knox were also inspired in the Christian tradition and helped change our world.

Christian leaders like Elizabeth Fry fought for prison reform and the first Workers Union was set up by a Christian preacher and his friends, fighting for fair pay, better working conditions and a day of rest.

Modern democracy is in huge debt to non-conformist Christianity, from Magna Carta with its Christian author, to the Rev. John Ball, the first great leader of a mass revolt, to Cromwell who ended the absolute rule of the Monarch and Christian parliamentarians who fought for the right for all to vote. In the U.S., Rick Warren said, “It was Christians who helped abolish slavery, achieve women’s suffrage, lead the civil-rights movement and drafted the Bill of Rights.”

Without Christianity, the story of Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand and other nations would be totally different. The same could be said for modern Africa, where 60% of the people are Christians and a large majority of the states are now Christian. In Africa, it was Dr. David Livingstone, the missionary who worked to end slavery and introduce Christian values to much of the continent. He is one of the world’s greatest explorers and humanitarians.

In addition, Christian leaders in their fight to end the slave trade set the template for all modern campaigning, and mass education was a significant step towards the people calling for democracy and human rights.

In the field of science, many of the founding fathers of many areas were Christians, with a devout belief in the God of the Bible and the same is true for the leaders of the Industrial Revolution, which shaped the world we live in. Michael Faraday was a scientist and evangelical Christian whose pioneering work changed the modern world, in that he helped give us electricity and the founder of the Greenwich Observatory that gave us the world’s first great star map, was of course a preacher as well. Many of the people who put man on the moon, working in NASA, were also believers.

Christianity in addition shaped politics, which gave us laws that protected the common man, as the Bible’s teaching on the equality of all men shaped our civilisation. Then missionaries spread these values around the world, turning entire nations into new realms to be shaped by the Christian message.

Today churches still provide clubs for young people, for the elderly, mothers and toddlers clubs and a deep sense of community in a broken world. They are also fighting for a better world – being a key force behind Make Poverty History and over campaigns. In 2005, the British Prime Minister Tony Blair said, “…churches are among the most formidable campaigning organisations in history” and “…faith communities have always played a significant role in social action in Britain – in education, in welfare, in support for so many of the most vulnerable and needy in our society.”

What has Christianity has done for the world? The answer is all around us, from the laws that protect us, to the principles that guide us. It has shaped every area of our lives, yet because its influence is so huge, we take its heritage for granted and forget that Christianity was the source of this civilisation!

          • Slavery? Do you have ANY idea how much human suffering could have been avoided had God, Jesus or even Paul condemned slavery instead of condoned it? Christians ran the slave trade & conservative Christians in the south fought to keep it. One could argue all day long if religion has had a positive or negative effect on mankind but either way it doesn’t make it true.

          • Little scumbag liberal homo troll forgatting the slavery brought about by atheist. What about his slavery to gay porn, LSD, mens rears, global warming hoax religion and on..

Three gay men died, and were going to be cremated. Their lovers happened to be at the funeral home at the same time, and were discussing what they planned to do with the ashes.
The first man said, “My Ryan loved to fly, so I’m going up in a plane and scatter his ashes in the sky.”
The second man said, “My Ross was a good fisherman, so I’m going to scatter his ashes in our favorite lake.”
The third man said, “My mrBlobbie the TROLL was such a good lover, I think I’m going to dump his ashes in a pot of chili, so he can tear my ass up just one more time.”

          • Ok, since you won’t actually listen, riddle me this. Give me one example of a non-religious, humanistic or atheist culture/civilization in recorded history that existed and thrived. If you can’t then all I can think is the reason you hate/reject any religion so fervently, is because you don’t like the idea of something, or someone, giving you the rules of your life (even if they gave you life).

As far as slavery, I’ve said it time and again. Slavery in the BIble was more a form of indentured servitude in that time by Christians and Jews.

          • The point of religion is not god; the point is social cohesion.
Religions evolved in every surviving culture because those that didn’t develop
a religion were destroyed by the others. Religion makes it easier to justify
            the slaughter our neighbors

          • Then why are you so bent on taking it away from everything in our lives, except our uttermost private sanctuaries? How is that fair? I don’t want laws saying you can or cannot get married if your gay for example.. I just see it as a pure form of corruption and inhumanity. As you can admit, many of our laws are fundamentally religious based. Not from a form of humanistic morality.

          • I am not bent on taking ANYTHING from you or ANYONE else. You have the right to believe in ANYTHING you want. You simply do NOT have the right to deny other people equal rights based upon your beliefs.

          • You are funny, you actually made me smile … Other than that, you should study a little real history before you write your own for us. Thanks.

          • When you say “real history” do you mean the “Christian history” where the planet is 6,000 years old & dinosaurs were on Noah’s Ark?

          • The point of religion is not god; the point is social cohesion.
Religions evolved in every surviving culture because those that didn’t develop
a religion were destroyed by the others. Religion makes it easier to justify
            the slaughter our neighbors

          • indentured servitude?????

Now kill all the boys and all the women who have slept with a man. Only the young girls who are virgins may live; you may keep them for yourselves ( (Numbers 31:7-18)

When the LORD your God hands it over to you, kill every man in the town. But you may keep for yourselves all the women, children, livestock, and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you.(Deuteronomy 20:10-14)

“When you go out to war against your enemies and the LORD, your God, delivers them into your hand, so that you take captives, if you see a comely woman among the captives and become so enamored of her that you wish to have her as wife, you may take her home to your house. But before she may live there, she must shave her head and pare her nails and lay aside her captive’s garb. After she has mourned her father and mother for a full month, you may have relations with her, and you shall be her husband and she shall be your wife. However, if later on you lose your liking for her, you shall give her her freedom, if she wishes it; but you shall not sell her or enslave her, since she was married to you under compulsion. (Deuteronomy 21:10-14)

They must be dividing the spoils they took: there must be a damsel or two for each man, Spoils of dyed cloth as Sisera’s spoil, an ornate shawl or two for me in the spoil. (Judges 5:30)

you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. (Leviticus 25:44-46)

          • Without 1,000 different Roman, Greek & pagan gods as well as the God(s) of Abraham & the 3 religions it hatched the story of Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand and other nations would be totally different. History is what it is. In terms of slavery, can you even imagine how much human suffering could have been avoided had God, Jesus or even Paul condemned slavery instead of condoned it? Christians ran the slave trade & confederate Christians fought & died to preserve it.

          • So let me understand this. Since you believe civilizations evolved religions due to being killed by others having religion, and those that were destroyed didn’t. And since evolution is fundamentally the survival of the fittest, why do you encourage the de-evolution of society? To take away what was once evolved? Because then,a religious civilization, say for example the Muslims, who hate us already, could just come and destroy us. And I already stated, I’m not asking the government to take a Bible and make it their laws. Not saying “don’t get married if you’re gay BY LAW.” I’m saying they shouldn’t because it’s wrong by my religious and natural view of things. And again you have to admit, while the founding fathers are deists as you claim, the laws they created and wrote are very fundamentally (not straight from the Bible) Christian based.

          • Well, if we went by the laws of the bible we would be killing non virgin brides, people that work on Sunday, woman that wear men’s clothing, adulterers, kids that talk back to their parents, non believers, gays, witches, fortunetellers, etc. etc.

          • You didn’t answer my question. Also, in another post of yours, you continue to quote old Jewish law. We aren’t Jewish. So, quote me what Jesus says about slaves, and I’ll prove you otherwise. Until then, please answer my question: Since you believe civilizations evolved religions due to being killed by others having religion, and those that were destroyed didn’t. And since evolution is fundamentally the survival of the fittest, why do you encourage the de-evolution of society? To take away what was once evolved? Because then,a religious civilization, say for example the Muslims, who hate us already, could just come and destroy us.

          • Correct me if I’m wrong but don’t Christians believe that Jesus & God are one in the same? Neither Jesus nor Paul, nor any other Biblical figure is recorded as saying anything in opposition to the institution of slavery & to suggest that slavery was something different to them then is was to the entire planet before, during & after the period of jesus is just more Christian revisionism

        • The only “trash can’ mr Blob the scumbag homo TROLL knows best is the dumpster behind his favorite gay bar.

Atheism not only does nothing about evil; atheism actually makes evil even worse. Atheism guarantees that evil is for nothing, it has no greater purpose or meaning; it guarantees no redemption of evil.

What do you call it when mrBob farts at his favorite gay bar?
          Mating call!!!

      • No two countries on earth have the same history. IF Christianity has produced more peace and prosperity in a society than atheism could ever boast (as the author claims) why are Christian countries throughout Africa, Latin America & Asia suffering from poverty & violence?

          • NO, they are NOT! Paul Kagame the war criminal & christian president of the Christian country Rwanda isn’t. Their are more Christians in sub-Saharan Africa then in Europe! Nigeria, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Angola, Zimbabwe , Zambia, Uganda, Burundi, Cape Verde, Congo, Democratic Republic, Guinea, Gabon, Kenya, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, & Swaziland are ALL Christian countries that are racked with violence & poverty

            ,

    • The poor little lonely scumbag homo TROLL, bob actually thinks anyone cares about his beliefs?
He hates it when you point out the religion of liberal obomunism, or climate alarmism.

  2. There he goes, the little lonely scumbag liberal homo TROLL, mrBlob. There are MANY fragments, and sects of atheism and in bobbies case add TROLL addiction to a conservative blog. Bobbiieee denies it but he has many religions such as: men’s butts, penises, addiction to gay porn and conservative blogs, evolution, paganism, climate alarmism, gia (mother earth), communism (progressivism), Obama worship and the list goes on and on.

Religion is an organized collection of beliefs, cultural systems, and world views that relate humanity to an order of existence. Many religions have narratives, symbols, and sacred histories that are intended to explain the meaning of life and/or to explain the origin of life or the Universe. From their beliefs about the cosmos andhuman nature, people derive morality, ethics, religious laws or a preferred lifestyle. According to some estimates, there are roughly 4,200 religions in the world

Atheism not only does nothing about evil; atheism actually makes evil even worse. Atheism guarantees that evil is for nothing, it has no greater purpose or meaning; it guarantees no redemption of evil.

“Evolution is promoted by its practitioners as more than mere science. Evolution is promulgated as an ideology, a secular religion—a full-fledged alternative to Christianity, with meaning and morality … This was true of evolution in the beginning, and it is true of evolution still today…

With regards to the correlation between atheism and Communism; it would be fallaciously simplistic to claim that atheism is the only motivating factor behind Communism and yet, it is certainly a major factor and the very premise upon which Communist ideology was built.

  3. This article is inane. It confuses the lack of acceptance of a religion with the lack of a belief in a supreme being or God. They are mutually independent. Atheism is the lack of a belief in God. It cannot be considered a religion. A religion, such as Catholicism, Islam, Judaism or any of the various Protestant sects is a group that profess a same concept of the supreme being. Not being associated with a religion does not make one an atheist as long as one accepts the existence of a supreme being.

    • You are right about what Atheism SHOULD be and indeed was until recent years. Atheists just did not believe and couldn’t care less about the ‘silly believers’.
BUT … this has changed dramatically. Are you aware there are now atheist churches ? An acvtive minority of atheists are set to ‘convert’ others to the atheist belief. They are doing precisely what they have reproached other religions of doing !!! Atheists are no longer content to just ignore others, they are dead set to engage in a religious war – which expresses itself mainly against Christians presently but it is extending to Jews as well because they are the softest target due to small numbers.

The author is absolutely correct to identify this new trend.

      • Small numbers??? Over 75% of Americans are Christian! Atheism is NOT a religion. None of the atheists I know would say absolutely that there is no god. Both the existence and non-existence of god are impossible to prove, so the rational atheist says simply: there is insufficient evidence to support belief in a god, therefore I don’t believe in god. This is not an absolute position, just a logical conclusion.

        • There you go again Bob denying your religious beliefs! You don’t believe in God by faith. You freely admit that you can’t prove it so you are only left with belief. You have just as much faith or more than the average Christian and yet you keep hounding us for believing in God. You say that it is like believing in the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, or unicorns. You forgot something on your “imaginary” list: Atheists. There is no such thing as an Atheist. Just like unicorns, they don’t exist either and yet you claim to be one!

You are also wrong about not being able to prove that God exists. I’ll say it again that I can PROVE that God exists. Somehow you never want to take me up on it…

          • It’s absurd to believe that everything that we cannot prove doesn’t exist actually does exit. You cannot prove that the easter bunny, santa claus, unicorns, leprechauns, or any of a thousand different gods doesn’t exist. If by beliefs you mean “accepting ideas or claims to be true without supporting evidence”, then I have no beliefs other than a few personal opinions, which do not require to be supported by evidence. That is what it means to have an opinion. A true idea has no need of any faith

          • Where is the wise
man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made
foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world
through its wisdom did not come to
know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached
to save those who believe. For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for
wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to
Gentiles foolishness, but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks,
Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God
is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For consider
your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh,
not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the
world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to
shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the
despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the
things that are, so that no man may boast before God. I Corinthians 1:20-29

          • Bob, I have a question for you…

If you stub you little toe on the bedpost a week from now, how will it feel?

            a) It will hurt.
            b) It will give you immense pleasure.
            c) You don’t know.
            d) All the above.
            e) None of the above.

Thanks in advance for your participation… =)

      • Thats a misnomer by the media, they used the word “church, not the atheists. But since we believe in similar concepts we can have fellowship similar to what religious people do and embrace our humanity, like minded thinking, and comp[any of those who share a belief in mankind itself and it’s ability to repair it’s own problems without hoping some imaginary being is hearing us and answering. We don’t call them church’s that a media concoction

    • You are right Atheism means non belief in any God.
Islam does not believe in the Supreme Being, THE ALMIGHTY GOD AND HIS SON JESUS CHRIST, To be a Christian you must believe and accept JEUSUS CHRIST AS THE SON OF GOD AND YOUR SAVIOR. That is the only thing that can make you a Christian. If you refuse JESUS CHRIST you are not a Christian.

  4. This site is scared to death of the truth!!! All
through history the ancient gods have found themselves in the trash can of
history, eventually discarded. Atheists today are continuing that tradition. We
are adding Jehovah, or Yahweh, to the list. Although atheism is not a religion (if it was it would have fragmented into different sects that would be killing each other) it’s growing fast throughout America & Europe because the advance of Western civilization has been the story of gradual victory over oppressive religion. The rise of humanism slowly shifted society’s focus away from obedience
to bishops and kings, onto individual rights and improved living conditions. Gods
are fragile things; they may be killed by a whiff of science or a dose of
    common sense

    • What is it with you and plagiarizing people? First it was Bertrand Russell, and now James Haught and Chapman Cohen? I mean, I don’t care that you quote them, but at least give them credit. People will mistake you for a semi-intelligent person.

  5. To simplify this subject, I present the following logic. We generally accept the proposition that an atheist is someone who does not believe in God. Whereas, a Christian is someone who not only believes in God, but believes God. The simplest definition that I have found that defines religion vs Christianity is as follows: “‘Religion’ can be defined as man’s way of making himself acceptable to God,
whereas Christianity is God’s way of making man acceptable to Himself through a personal relationship.” Therefore, atheism cannot be a religion by this definition. Atheism is essentially a belief in nothing. That nothing created everything out of nothing.

    • No Atheism is not a belief in nothing as you imply, it’s simply the result of watching reality in action that allows atheist to accept there is no God but we believe in many things, evolution, the betterment of the species, the advancement of science, and the acceptance that since there is but one life it should be lived well and with purpose

    • Then you get those atheists that try to claim that believing in God equates to believing in Santa Clause or the Easter Bunny, incidentally both individuals reflect back to God in that one represents Jesus’s birthday and the other represents Jesus overcoming the cross and being resurrected. See how much of a copout atheism is?

        • Actually, that’s only partially true.

The Bible clearly tells us what God considers the memorial of Christ’s death and resurrection. It is NOT the pagan celebration of Easter, in honor of the pagan god, Ishtar. It is BAPTISM:

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death?

Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that just as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

“For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection:

“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed (rendered inoperative), that henceforth we should not be slaves of sin.” Romans 6:3-6

The memorial for Christ’s death and resurrection is BAPTISM – – – NOT Easter!

As far as Christmas, we don’t know when Jesus was exactly born, so we use the 25th.

The Bible does not tell us when Jesus was born. However, we know that the angels announced the birth of Christ to the Bethlehem shepherds in the open fields who were tending their flocks by night.. This fact certainly implies that the birth of Jesus could NOT have been on the 25th of December. “The cold of the night in Palestine between December and February is very piercing, and it was not customary for the shepherds of Judea to watch their flocks in the open fields later than about the end of October.” Hislop, A., The Two Babylons, Loiseaux Brothers, Neptune, N.J. pg 91.

In addition, Jesus Himself said, in speaking of the coming destruction of Jerusalem,

“But pray that your flight be NOT in winter, neither on the Sabbathday.”
          Matt 24:20

Obviously, Jesus understood that the wintertime in Palestine was harsh enough to make traveling difficult and uncomfortable. If the winter was such a bad time in which to flee, it seems unlikely that the shepherds would be sleeping out in the fields while tending their sheep during that season.

Because of these facts, and others to be discussed, it is virtually impossible for the birth of Christ to have occurred on December 25.

          In Jeremiah 10:1-4, we read:

“Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:

“Thus saith the Lord, ŒLearn NOT the way of the heathen, and be NOT dismayed at the signs of heaven (the queen of heaven, Isis, worshiped by the heathen), for the heathen are dismayed at them.

“For the customs of the people are futile: for one cuts a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the ax.

“They decorate it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.”

There could be NO more specific description of a present-day Christmas, than this.

God says, “DON’T do it. This is Paganism!”

  6. I study comparative religion, and I see these new atheists as secular humanists, which is (as deemed by the Supreme Court) a religion…secular humanism….faith in oneself, moral relativism.

  7. This is from the NASA website: More is unknown than is known. We know how much dark energy there is because we know how it affects the Universe’s expansion. Other than that, it is a complete mystery. http://goo.gl/VQKyMi It sounds to me like they bumped into God while there were looking around out there and don’t know how to explain it. They also say “everything…all normal matter adds up to less than 5 percent of the universe.” They don’t know squat and they have nowhere else to go but to faith. (Heb 11:1)

  8. Matthew 24:23-25 23 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time.
Or as Jamie Fox, a fellow Christian, and someone who should have known better, said, “Our lord and savior Barak Obama.”

  9. Since atheism is a religious belief set it’s impossible for it to be the fasted growing religion that’s an oxymoron. Now whether more people are waking up to the reality that there is no God, well that seems to be the case but a religion it’s not.

    • If atheism is not a religious belief, why are so many atheist trying to push atheism as a belief system and way of life on the American public? Why are so many atheist “missionaries” out there trying to win converts to your religion? Of course atheism is a religious belief – always has been and always will be! Otherwise all of you atheist wouldn’t be working so hard to destroy Christianity and belief in God! Let me ask you a question: if you truly believe there is no God, why are you fighting so hard to disprove the existence of something you don’t believe is there in the first place? And if there is no God, why do you keep capitalizing the word God?

      • I would suppose for the same reasons I have Baptists, LDS memebers, and Jehovah’s witnesses at my door but we at least don’t bother you at home. But if we’re engaged in a discussion we’ll most certainly explain our position because we prefer people to use reality based thinking, a belief in science and we’d like it if people could see it’s the real way to find concrete answers to the world’s problems, as far as capitalizing God I do it out of respect for other’s beliefs just as I expect other to have respect for mine. By the way we’re not “working so hard” to destroy anything but explain to me why you feel the right to go and convert people to your way of thinking but we’re not allowed that same courtesy or right for that matter? I mean if you’re so certain of your belief it shouldn’t matter what we do now should it?

        • Perhaps someday when you grow up and stop being the self-centered narcissist that you appear to be, you will understand that it’s not all about you or your lack of belief anything greater than your own pathetic self. I never expect narrow-minded bigots such as you to comprehend the point of a discussion. I do expect exactly what you did, that is, go off in a totally unremarkable, infantile and incoherent foaming at the mouth rant that has absolutely nothing to do with the subject matter covered in the column this comment section is attached to. Maybe when you grow up you will understand everything is not always all about you. It must be terrible to be you, leading such a sad and pathetic life that just people showing up at your door is cause to be so offended it drives you to the point of unreasonable and incomprehensible rage!

By the way, I will never believe you atheist hypocrites are “not working so hard” to destroy Christianity only when I see you and your comrades heaping the same level of vitriol, scorn and derision on other world religions, such as islamofascism, as you do on Christians! Or are you afraid those “peace-loving” islamofascism will come after you in a most deadly manner if you voice any criticism of their religion?

          • Wow where to start with that bit if gibberish. First of all, if I’m a narcissist why are you the one doing all the juvenile insults. I never directly attacked you in anyway but like the typical D- students that now have a loud voice in conservative politics you just can’t seem to have a reasonable discussion without resorting to childish name calling when you can’t counter a point.
As to what it’s like to be be me? It’s great, I have a good business, a nice home, a loving family, friends, I’m involved in my community and am fairly content although I do worry about the direction my country’s taken in the almost 35 years since Reagan took us way off a reasonable course. The Lee Atwater brand of hate politics is disturbing to me especially as it turns Americans against Americans and even Mr. Atwater said on his deathbed it was one of his biggest regrets,
As for Muslims, I have no fear of them and I think you scared little children have only made the problem worse because you’re not very good at critical thinking. You and your ilk supported Bush’s escapades and what should have been a very limited Military action turned into a 10 year debacle and a great recruiting tool for Jihadists, not that Obama has done any better on that front either. God we finished off Hitler and the Axis quicker than this charade.
Now as to Muslims, I know a few Muslims and the ones I know aren’t the caricatures you folks love to make them all, As for those who would attempt harm to America or my family in general, well I’d be happy to cleanse the gene pool of them, the rest can go on their merry way just like any Christian, Buddhist, Sikh, Jew, etc. While I wish more of mankind would realize there’s no great being I understand many are so culturally ingrained it’s hard not to be like everyone else in your circle.
Have a great day although I doubt you will with that big a$$ chip on your shoulder

          • Superstitious should understand something about the way scientifically-minded people come to accept an idea as true. We accept things as true, based not on an automatic assumption of truth, but after careful consideration of all evidence, weighing all sides of an issue, after skeptical criticism and asking a lot of questions of all positions. This acceptance is a tentative acceptance, not a religious belief

        • The problem is even deeper than that. This nation faces a number of different challenges that science will have to answer & when a large percentage of the population reject scientific facts that presents a HUGE problem. Then of course you have the problem that religious people believe that their religion gives them the right to discriminate against people & lastly in a world with WMD’s the LAST thing we need are people willing to kill & die over who’s fairytale are real!

  10. I see Bob is back spreading his hate and talking about what he knows nothings of. There is no such a person as an atheist for it has nothing to do with belief and all to do with denial. They have been caused to believe the lie so there is no need to try and convince them of anything for they have sets their sights on hell and hell is what they will get if they refuse to change course.

2 Thessalonians 2:8-12 (KJV) 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

No I never thought this would change their minds but it doesn’t hurt either that they be exposed to the truth once in a while.

    • I don’t think it’s just hate the scumbag liberal homo TROLL, Blobbie spreads. Remember he had his “internship” in an OWS tent with his buttbuddies. The saddest thing is he actually believes everything his god and master obamao says.
